Town-Wide Archaeological Survey Public Informational Meeting ~ June 30, 2026

The Town has received a grant from the Rhode Island Historic Preservation & Heritage Commission to conduct a comprehensive town-wide archaeological reconnaissance survey. The Town has retained The Public Archaeology Laboratory, Inc. (PAL) to conduct this survey which will not involve any digging or ground-disturbance. The objective of the survey is to identify known archaeological sites and develop archaeological sensitivity maps that will allow the Town to protect East Greenwich’s cultural resources. PAL staff will be collecting information over the next few months and conducting a walkover or drive-over of East Greenwich neighborhoods from publicly accessible roadways and public properties. If anyone has information on archaeological sites they would like to share or has artifact collections they would like to show the archaeologists please call PAL at 401-728-8780 or email contactus@palinc.com
